The island's boutique is stocked with various handmade craft products and clothes , mainly from Indonesia , India and Sri Lanka , the most prolific producers of these kinds of items in the area around the Maldive archipelago. Locally produced craft items are rather scarce as the materials that can be used are limited and extremely simple (coconut, wood, palm leaves, mother-of-pearl) and they have become even more sparse since the government finally introduced a ban on the sale of shells and items made from black coral and turtle to safeguard the environment and the fauna.
The boutique can also print personalised t-shirts and there are Indian dressmakers who make made-to-measure clothes from a vast selection of Asian fabrics. Also on sale are perfumes and other pharmacy items, postcards and stamps, books about the Maldives , swimming costumes, jewellery, camera films and batteries.
